Hello Class!
The Loving Kindness exercise gave me the warm fuzzies when I was done. It took me a bit to remember the correct dialogue but eventually my brain picked it up. It really helped show the power of forgiveness and how poisonous anger and hatred can really be.
The Integral assessment was very interesting to me, as I do a lot of self-reflecting and I believe it does truly help me work on becoming a better version of myself. This really helped me think about the areas in my life that need the most improvement and development. I think my focus area needs to be the mind and psychospiritual mind and training my mind to focus on whats important. I will work on improving this by practicing meditation.

Unit 5
Hi All!
Personally, enjoyed the subtle mind exercise compared to the loving kindness exercise. I find it easier for me to focus on breathing and disregard the random thoughts I have than to focus my feelings specifically on love and kindness. I believe I got as far as the calm-abiding state. During this time my mind was completely still, it almost felt as if I was in a spinning chair, even though I was just sitting on the couch. Mental, physical, and spiritual wellness are all connected together and are part of our everyday life. One activity I enjoy that incorporate my mental, physical, and spiritual health is hiking. Rather I'm walking through the bluffs or running through them, my mind drifts away from my previous negative thoughts an stressors of the day, focuses on the beauty of life and nature. I tend to feel happier and more whole when going on hikes as nature speaks to every sense of my wellness. My days are notably more positive and happier when I'm able to participate in activities like hiking.

Unit 4
Hello Everyone!
I found the Loving Kindness exercise to be a bit more difficult than I originally thought. I found myself thinking of my loved one, however I had problems imagining them in my mind to produce the "feeling" of love. I believe it takes a lot of focus and practice to become efficient at this practice. Once I practice and get better at this, I believe it would be extremely beneficial at feeling worthy and loved. By practicing, it helps our mind focus and allows us to train our brains. This is the concept of a mental workout. Conducting mental workouts will allow you to train your mind to be more open, still, and it will allow you to make more conscious choices rather than reactive choices. Once can implement these workouts by meditation and focusing on your breathing. Doing this will allow your mind to be still and at this point you can explore your inner mind.

Unit 2
Howdy All! Before taking this class, I wasn't too sure on how "relaxation" or meditation really worked and honestly didn't believe in it much either. However, I was EXTREMELY wrong. I still find it hard to believe after sitting in silence, listening to a soothing audio an focusing on breathing that I feel this relaxed and energized. Even more amazing, is that I truly felt my legs and feet get warmer during the exercise. It really comes to show you how much power and how truly connected the mind and body are. I feel more awake, my brain is more focused and I feel ready to take on the day!
Unit 3
I'd rate my physical well-being as a 5, my spiritual well-being a 7, and my psychological well-being an 8. Managing my weight has been an issue for me since I was child. Over the past 8 months I've started making small lifestyle changes such as cooking more often, taking the stairs at work, and keeping a food diary to truly monitor my weight problem. One small change led to another, and 8 months later I've lost 60 pounds, Wohoo! One of the major changes that is helping me reach and sustain my goals deals directly with my spiritual and mental being. I was introduced to the incredible world of hiking and was astonished at the wonders I've missed out on. Hiking allows me to relax and focus on the now and the beauty of nature that I'm surrounded by. It's allowed me to truly reflect on myself which allowed me to truly understand what lifestyle changes I needed to make to be a truly happy, healthy, and spiritual person. With this new-found activity, I find myself to be a much happier and optimistic person. My goals are rather simple. Physically, I want to run my first 5k within the next 6 months. To reach this goal, I will continue to run the trails in my area as the terrain is difficult and will be great for training. Spiritually, I would like to participate more in the community or more volunteer work. I think cleaning up the forests or bluffs in my area would be a great way for me to increase my spirituality. My psychological well-being goal is to understand that things take time. I am not happy where I am at in terms of my career, which makes me feel extremely negative about my job. However, I know that the benefits of my job allow me to pay for my schooling. I need to think in terms of my education to get a better job than my current circumstance. I think by doing this It will make going to work easier as I hope to stay focused on completing my degree.
I truly enjoy the meditation exercises. I find myself slipping into a relaxed state quicker every time I try. I was able to feel each of the colors as the speaker was describing them. Once everything was over, I felt energized and alive, almost as if I had taken a short power-nap.
