Unit 7: Meeting Aesclepius

Howdy Class!

This week I realized just how truly untrained my brain really is.  Trying to focus on one individual was a real task, as I felt my brain shift from one individual, then quickly to another, and then someone completely random, and then thoughts about my day started playing back in my brain.  Eventually after I did some breathing exercises and finally calmed myself (it was a rough day at work, oooft!)  I was able to focus on a dear friend who actually inspired me to go back to school in the first place.  During the meditation, I kept focusing on how sweet and warm hearted she was, and how motivating her words and sincerity truly is.  It really made me think of who I want to be as a person and how I present my self to others.  I believe after this exercise I will pay closer attention to this and it will hopefully allow me to stay calm and collected in stressful situations and to spin situations in a positive way.  I will continue meditating and training my brain so eventually I can become the wise one.  Meditation has helped me understand why I feel a certain way when I take a hike or wake up early to enjoy the sunrise.  It's helped me learned that these feelings are signs of spiritual and psychological health at it's best.

The saying "One Cannot Lead another where one has not gone himself'" is probably the most truthful statement I've heard all day.  This is similar to leading by example.  Those who are helping and teaching others are normally in that position since they have experienced the hardships and situations as those they are teaching.  Going through and experiencing the teachings will not only help the instructor fully understand the benefits but will help guide and evoke confidence in the student that these teachings WORK, and that achieving their goals are possible.  I believe that all heal and wllness professions have an obligation  to their clients to develop their own psychological, physical, sprirtual health. As a professional, I understand how the mind body and spirit are connected and how beneficial it can be in someone life to be healthy in these aspects.  Being happy and healthy is the goal, and focusing on our psychological, physical, and spiritual well-being is how we accomplish that
