Unit 8

Howdy Class!

I believe that all of the exercise that we have done throughout this class could be extremely beneficial for my mental health.  I believe the two practices I will use the most are Visualization and Loving Kindness.  I found that visualizing myself achieving certain goals really helps boost my self-esteem and confidence, which I think is half the battle of accomplishing goals in the first place.  I’ve also been in bit of a rut when it comes to my job and I know I need to change my attitude towards my work in order to fix this.  Loving kindness really helps bring me back to reality and all of the things I’m truly thankful for, including my job.  Tapping into a different mind-set will help me stay positive and keep calm in stressful situations or times where I may be feeling negative towards my job.

  1. Hello Brittany,

I too can relate to both these practices, but I favor the Loving kindness exercise over the visualization technique. The Loving kindness exercise will make you more aware in caring and loving yourself first before displaying love to others. Continue to implement both these practices as a part of your daily life.

  2. Brittany,
You did a great job on this week’s blog! I like how you stated that all the exercises can benefit your mental health. I agree with you on this. It is always nice to find ways to help boost self-esteem and confidence I believe I need to do the same as I am not a person that is all about me and I lack giving myself compliments but I have no trouble punishing myself when I feel I have failed.
Just remember you are a wonderful person and you are succeeding in life by having a job and going to college. So when you feel low about yourself just think of all the accomplishments you have done in the past and will continue to do in the future.
To further the blog, what phrases can you come up with that you can tell yourself when you start to feel down? Write them down and read it when you need it.
